West Nile virus Detected

 West Nile virus has been detected in traps in the following locations during the 2026 Season:

 

Culex tarsalis mosquito

                                 Bountiful       Centerville         Clearfield        Clinton        Farmington

                                 Fruit Heights    Kaysville       Layton       North Salt Lake       Sunset 

                                 Syracuse        West Point      West Bountiful       Woods Cross   

We encourage all residents to protect themselves from West Nile virus by doing the following:

  • Use insect repellent, according to label directions.
  • Empty any water holding containers in yard which do not need to have water in them and change out the water in bird baths and horse troughs weekly.
  • Wear long-sleeved, loose fitting, light-colored clothing.
  • When possible, avoid prolonged outdoor activity at dawn and dusk.
